Curriculum Features
Our curriculum is focused on the connection of product design concepts and craft innovations. Product design and craft design are the two main teaching axes of our department. As related to practical fields, our industry-university cooperation projects are based on the two axes of design competitions and research projects. Moreover, we apply the concepts and ideas of cultural innovations to product design and manufacturing for the “cultural and creativity industry.”
Activity of learning
Students were supervised to participate in international and domestic contests and improve their innovative product design skills. For the 2022 year, the first prizes were awarded to 「 O3 chairs」 and 「 Interactive Teaching Toys 」designed to teach children about nutrition and hunger. The 「 O³ chair 」is a stool consisting of three independent and detachable building blocks designed with three hollow-circular rings attached to one another as a natural returning characteristic. Each ring is semi-circular in shape and made from elastic wood layers covered in leather through a compression process revealing the stool's natural materials that make it elastic and resilient. This chair was specifically awarded by Italy A'Design Golden Award、2022 first prize Industrial Design Group of the National Technical College Students’ Practical Project Production Competition、Young Pin Design Award for product and craft design group, as well as the 1st prize for the Interactive Teaching Toy awarded from the National Technical College Students in the practical project production competition.
A metal craft workshop of the department is also certified by the Ministry of Labor for metal and jewelry work certifications of levels B and C.
